Accessible Dartmoor

Although Dartmoor has its challenges, it should be available to all that want the opportunity to experience it.

Our 'Freedom To Explore' Experience

Everyone connected with Eternal Landscapes Dartmoor - from Jess, its founder, to our brilliant partners - are local to Dartmoor. It is our home and an area we know well. If you’re looking to experience Dartmoor but have accessibility issues do get in touch with your ideas on what you would like to do or experience and between us we will put together something suitable for your requirements.

A Personal Story By Jess

My Dad trained (and coaxed) multiple teams of cadets from Okehampton's 2443 Royal Air Force Squadron for Dartmoor’s 35, 45, and 55-mile Ten Tors Expedition Challenge. He also worked as a walking guide for a local hotel, leading guided walks on north Dartmoor.  Dad developed Parkinson’s Disease but with support, he was able to continue to enjoy the freedom of Dartmoor - especially its birdlife, wildflowers, and archaeology - up until his death. Spending time on Dartmoor brought him absolute joy. Although a visit to Dartmoor can have its challenges, it should be available to all who want the opportunity to experience it.  We are a small operator and not a disability lobbying group. However, we want to go beyond accessible travel just being a box-ticking exercise to comply with legislation. Although those needing support may choose a specialist company, we are happy to get the conversation started.

Miles With Smiles

Dartmoor National Park has put together an excellent webpage highlighting 6 ‘Miles Without Styles’ routes (although they are looking to expand this number) which are stile-free routes suitable for a wide range of users including those with limited mobility including those who may use all-terrain powered mobility scooters. They are also suitable for families with younger children. Click anywhere on this text to access the link.
