We provide a local qualified guide and, rather than in a group setting where you’re constricted by others, you have the freedom to hike Dartmoor your way.
Dartmoor is home to more than 450 miles of public rights of way for walkers as well as milesof moors that can be walked off-track. Our Dartmoor Adventurer gives you the flexibility toexplore the trails, tracks and routes that you want.
Suitable for
This adventure is perfect for individuals and small groups and families with older children. (For those with younger children we can just scale down the level of activity.)
Weather
We offer this experience in all seasons so be prepared for a variety of weather conditions including rain, strong wind or mist.
Group size
The minimum group size for this activity is one and the maximum group size is six. For larger groups, please get in touch.

We can arrange our Dartmoor Adventurer on a bespoke basis for your group and can adapt based on your preferences, level of skill and ability.
Your instructor
You’ll have your own qualified, experienced walk leader who will complete risk assessments in advance of your visit.
What to bring
Sturdy shoes with grip – trainers / walking boots are fine, waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast), jumper/sweater/warm layers including a woolly hat and gloves at either end of the season, suncream and sunhat on hotter days and drinks and a snack or lunch depending on the length of the experience.
Adventure Okehampton
Our Dartmoor Adventurer as been created in partnership with Adventure Okehampton, the team behind YHA Okehampton and one of only three YHA Activity Centres in England andWales. Their main ethos is to provide people with a chance to experience Dartmoor and to undertake a range of challenging activities of different levels. As their website says, “where you stay changes who you become”.
Experience Location
The start point of this activity will depend on the walking route you would like to take but is provided by the team behind Adventure Okehampton at Okehampton YHA which is easy to get to from all directions. Come on the train using The Dartmoor Line but if you come by car there is ample parking for all visitors onsite.
